"We have worked with colormass for several years, and can always rely on their collaboration and flexibility to deliver first-class work, every time. In the early stages of our partnership, they went above and beyond to understand our specific needs, both from a creative and technical point of view, to make sure the assets they’re creating are a perfect reflection of the Herman Miller brand."
With the help of the colormass platform Herman Miller can produce a large number of silo images (without programming knowledge) with an ease that would not be possible with regular 3D tools. In a few words: the colormass infrastructure can provide quality at scale.
Products used:
Herman Miller is a 100-year-old-plus company that places great importance on design, the environment, community service and the health and well-being of their customers and their employees. Innovative ways to improve the performance of their customers’ organisations have become their hallmark.
To better support the future of work Herman Miller (UK) launched its online store in 2020 The online store front is very clean and thanks to the simplistic UI it is very straight forward to shop a comfortable chair for your home office or to improve your game setup with an adjustable desk. An important part of the consistent experience is the consistent images used in the configurator that Herman Miller is very conscious about. The task of the colormass infrastructure was to generate a large number of images that display all the variations of the various products (e.g. Verus, Aeron, Mirra2 etc.) while making the images follow a strict guideline. On the surface this might look like an easy task but keeping such a large number images consistent is not an easy task.
Herman Miller has a detailed guideline when it comes to the images that are displayed on the website (to name a few: about how much and in what way the drop shadow should be present for the various angles, how the casters should follow the direction of the chair and many more). Keeping these details always consistent is quite difficult using regular photoshoots or the traditional 3D infrastructure that many CGI companies utilize. Thanks to the colormass Rendering Platform it was no problem to successfully and continuously deliver product images. The final images speak for themselves: they are simplistic, stunning and most importantly consistent. You can find many examples below or on the webstore above. Over the years the colormass Rendering Platform proved its worth, to the point that now almost all of the ecommerce images that you will find in the UK store were generated using this platform.
As a result of our proven quality and reliability, Herman Miller tasked us to also assist one of its companies, Colebrook Bosson Saunders, with an upcoming product launch. CBS is a team of international designers, manufacturers and distributors of award-winning ergonomic products. They created the Wishbone, the world’s first flatscreen monitor arm and Ollin, the world’s first dynamic monitor arm that supports weights from 0 to 9kg. During the first project the task was to create the environment on the platform that matched the setup of their original physical photostudio (both the environment and the settings used), so the resulting images remained consistent with the existing images. You can see some examples of the images below.
